ULA was birthed out of a heart and call for discipleship, and was preceded with a program called Thrive. When we realized the transformation that could take place when we intentionally and uncompromisingly put our focus on identity and intimacy with the Father, we knew that we had to dig deeper. United Life Academy is the manifestation of our relentless pursuit of the Kingdom!

I could say so much… this internship wrecked me in the best way ever. The Lord did so much in me internally, so much emotional healing. I was transformed from the inside out. I grew exponentially. I was constantly learning, absorbing, and changing every day. My identity, purpose, and calling were solidified. It was rough at times, but I learned to rejoice through it all. Because it was for my GOOD! Those times taught me, stretched me, pushed me, changed me, and brought me to the best, healthiest place I’ve ever been in my entire life. I learned how to be thankful for the wilderness and remain steadfast through it.

I’m no stranger to personal and professional development, first in the secular world and then within the church. To say that this program is different would be an understatement. Where other programs focus on what it is you do, this focused in on who you are. And not just who we say we are, but who God says we are. In a nutshell, it showed me what it looks like to step into sonship. My journey over the first 6 months wasn’t always sunshine and roses nor was it easy by any measure, but the work that God had to do in me was significant and worth it and absolutely necessary for me to fully step into His calling on my life. The doubt, the shame, the sin I still struggled with when we began the journey fell off me. The frustration, the lack of fulfillment, the feeling of hopelessness that would plague me in a dry season are replaced with an uncontainable joy in His presence. I have learned that while it is fun to be on the mountaintop of victory, it is in the valley and the hard times that I can draw nearest to Him and feel His unrelenting presence.

I am the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow because that is who He is. I am not changed by my circumstances or emotions but remain sure, steadfast, unshaken, and full of faith. Learning to live in that place of thriving, which is where we eat of the fruit of tree of life, freedom abounds, unity is present, and the kingdom is coming! All that belongs to the Father is mine and I am not satisfied with anything less than everything!

Matthew Conlin, 18

This experience had a life changing affect on me and who I am today. Before I even arrived, everything lined up for me. All of it dropped into my lap within a week; almost to say that I needed to be there. I began being confronted with situations that were almost small versions of the battles that I faced in my hometown. As each one passed, I began to grow and realize who I was in the Father and the purpose He had for me. I still don’t have all the answers but I know He is taking care of me. More importantly, I now know who He is and who I am in Him. If there is one thing I could suggest to anyone on the fence about coming to this program it would be this: even the disciples of Jesus had to step into the realm of uncomfortability to truly discover who they were and who their God was. Your life will never be the same because you will experience a peace and an understanding in each situation that will guide you for the rest of your life.

This experience gave way to one of the greatest transformations of my life. The box that I didn’t realize that I had put the Lord in burst open. Revelation and tangible evidence of the kingdom began pouring out, and I started truly understanding what life on earth was really all about. I learned what it is actually like to have a real relationship with and deep love for the Father. The community of students walking hand in hand beside me, provided opportunity to experience tension, frustration, and dishonor. In those places, I discovered areas where the Lord wanted to work in my life. I changed my mind on circumstances and emotions like that, and saw them for what they truly are – an open door for growth. Renewing my mind became a practical reality, not just a scripture on a page. Awakening to who He really is, and what that means about me, wrecked me and rebuilt me in a way where my confidence as a Son of God has become unshakable.

Nathan Waitt, 23

This was a period of exponential growth like no other in my life. I discovered more fully who I am, and I learned who my Father truly is. I learned what it means to have a relationship with God, and that He desires for us to be united in the same manner that He and His Son are united. Unity in pursuit and growth was developed and cultivated, and the Holy Spirit was encountered in a very real and life changing way. Truly, my perspective on life is entirely different. We are all sons of God. He is the King of kings, meaning that, as sons, we inherit this kingship on the earth. All that belongs to the Father is ours. He has given it all to us, we simply need to pick it up. I also learned that this reality is readily available for anyone without exception, and that I should regard all as such.
